A Timeline history of the Violin Bow - from c. 1600 - 1800

Pater was a French rococo painter - briefly studied with Watteau. This sketch is fascinating, to see how he focusses his attention on separate areas. The thumb on the hair hold is very clear - as is the short bow, even well into the 18th century.
