Man playing the violin c. 1650
Hendrick Sorgh (c.1610 -1670) Holland

I love this little drawing - you really get the feeling that our violinist is his music. And perhaps as befits a folk fiddler, with a short bow, and thumb under the frog bow hold. The original is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and you can access it on the internet here, where you can examine the drawing in great detail.
